CSIRO ON: Adaptive eLearning Mentor Induction

The ON team within the CSIRO required an eLearning module that would induct new mentors and refreshed material for existing mentors.  The module also had to be as time-saving as possible but also cover all topics thoroughly, a contradictory requirement that was solved with an adaptive eLearning strategy.

A matrix of learning objectives were carefully crafted to reflect what was needed to achieve via the module. The learning outcomes were then created which also informed learners of the purpose and content of the module.

Due to the large amount of existing content available from previous webinar and face-to-face sessions, workshops were held and two approaches were utilised to reduce the material down to core information only:

  • Content was divided into knowledge, skills and culture to ensure good instructional design and to see what topics could be left to the face-to-face interactions with mentors.
  • A 3-ring bullseye approach was used to distinguish between content that was ‘must know, should know, could know’.

Media assets such as video, audio, photos and illustrations were gathered and created bespoke where required.  The adaptive coding within Articulate Storyline was set up to accommodate both types of learners.  The final result was that new mentors could choose to work through content like in a regular eLearning module, and existing mentors could attempt a knowledge bank upfront, and only be presented with further questioning on the content they had not quite right.  Therefore covering off on original requirements and proving project success.

Diversity & Inclusion eLearning

C&K entrusted us to revitalise their diversity and inclusion eLearning modules. We needed to bring the modules to life with imagery and artwork, but also tightly adhere to corporate branding and key messages.

With interactive self-learning elements and embedded video of real team members sharing their stories, learners dived dove deep into the meaning of diversity and inclusion and how it relates to children at C&K.

Bullying eLearning Module

Even today, bullying can occur in many workplaces. This elearning module delivers key messages of the bullying problem aimed at staff of a fast food health company.

The brief called for a solution that was ‘very eye-catching’. We interpreted this with hyper-stylised people layered upon attention-grabbing Pop Art design elements. Vivid colours and simple interactions make this elearning module easy to use. It’s also SCORM compliant and LMS ready.
